Valley of Kings and Hatshepsut
A trusted partner experience, hand-picked and featured on This is Egypt.

Overview
On the Nile’s West Bank you’ll explore an area rich in funerary temples and tombs. The visit takes you through sites that mark the burial landscape of ancient Egypt, where monumental structures and carved tomb entrances line the river’s western shores. You’ll go to the Valley of the Kings to view the burial grounds of pharaohs, then see the Colossi of Memnon — two enormous seated statues that dominate the plain. Along the way you’ll also visit Hatshepsut Temple, dedicated to Queen Hatshepsut, one of ancient Egypt’s most powerful and well-known rulers. As you move between these landmarks, you’ll encounter a mix of grand architecture and funerary monuments that illustrate the importance of the West Bank in Egypt’s afterlife beliefs.
