Overview
Your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel for a private tour of the Giza Pyramids and Sphinx, the Egyptian Museum and the Citadel. At Giza you will see the Great Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus and the Great Sphinx — the sphinx has the head of a pharaoh and the body of a lion and dates from the time of Chephren. You will also visit the Valley Temple that belongs to Chephren’s pyramid and learn about the sites’ ancient significance as you move through the plateau. You will then visit the Egyptian Museum, which displays a rare collection spanning some 5,000 years of Egyptian art. Over 250,000 genuine artefacts are presented, including an exhibit dedicated to the treasure, gold and jewellery of Tutankhamen, which remained sealed in his tomb for over 3,500 years until its discovery in 1922. The final stop is the Citadel of Salah Eldein and the Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali, whose interior and exterior walls are covered with alabaster. Along the way, your guide will provide context and background to help you appreciate each landmark.
