Overview
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel to begin a tour of the Giza Plateau. You will enjoy a panoramic view of the Pyramids of Khufu (Cheops), Chephren and Mykerinus, then explore the rest of the plateau including the iconic Sphinx. A stop at the Western Plateau will offer excellent photo opportunities of the three pyramids with the sprawling city of Cairo in the background. You will also visit the Saqqara complex, associated with King Djoser, and see his step pyramid, which is considered the first pyramid in Egypt and the first rock‑cut building in human history. The tour continues to Memphis, the Old Kingdom’s first capital, where the Open Air Museum displays major monuments such as the 16‑metre statue of Ramses II and the alabaster sphinx of Queen Hatshepsut. An Egyptian lunch will be served in a countryside restaurant with delicious organic food. After these cultural visits to the pyramids and ancient sites, you will be taken back to your hotel.
