Overview
This day tour will take you to the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, where you will discover some of Ancient Egypt’s most imposing funeral monuments. You will see the three great pyramids of the pharaohs Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinos, which were built around 2500 BC, and gain a sense of their scale and historic importance as you move through the plateau. Along the way you will explore the Valley Temple of Chephren, the only one of the three valley temples that is preserved, where the mummy of the pharaoh was purified. You will also encounter the mysterious Sphinx of Giza, the gigantic sculpture that combines a lion’s body with a human head. The visit will give you the chance to view these landmarks up close and learn about their role in ancient burial practices and myth.
