Private Tour: Luxor East Bank, Karnak and Luxor Temples
A trusted partner experience, hand-picked and featured on This is Egypt.

Overview
From central Luxor you’ll travel to the Temples of Karnak on the Nile’s East Bank, where an Egyptologist guide will explain how Luxor stands on the 4,000‑year‑old site of Thebes and how Karnak became the largest temple complex in Egypt. As you walk along the Avenue of the Sphinxes to the gateway, you’ll learn that this vast collection of buildings was developed by more than 30 pharaohs, including Amenhotep IV and Ramses II, and see the scale and variety of their additions up close. You’ll then move on to Luxor Temple, set in the heart of the modern city and laid parallel to the Nile. Hear how it was first built around 1,400 BC and later added to by Tutankhamun, Ramses II and even Alexander the Great. Admire the two colossal statues of Ramses at the entrance and the granite gateway obelisk, the twin of which now stands in Paris’ Place de la Concorde, as your guide fills in the history and significance of these ancient monuments.
