Overview

You will explore Luxor, the largest outdoor museum in the world, with visits on both the East and West Banks of the Nile. Along the way your private guide will explain how the ancient city of Thebes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, spans both banks. The experience includes a lovely lunch and guided visits to Luxor’s most famous archaeological landmarks. On the East Bank you will wander through the vast rooms, obelisks and the Sacred Lake of the Karnak complex, then follow the Avenue of the Sphinxes that leads to Luxor Temple, where impressive statues of Pharaoh Ramses II stand. On the West Bank you will see the lavish burial ground of the Valley of the Kings, visit the striking Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, and view the Memnon Statues. As you move between sites your guide will provide context about the ruins and the pharaohs who built them, helping you understand the scale and history of each monument.
