Private Full Day Tour of Luxor West Bank Temples and Tombs
A trusted partner experience, hand-picked and featured on This is Egypt.
Overview
On the West Bank of the Nile in Luxor, an Egyptologist guide will lead you through some of the area's most famous funerary monuments and tombs. You will begin at the Valley of the Kings, where the grandeur of royal burial architecture is on display, and enter three tombs (the Tomb of King Tutankhamun is excluded). Along the way the scale and craftsmanship of these ancient burial sites will be clear. Next you will visit the mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut, built by Hatshepsut, daughter of Thutmosis I. She ruled for about 20 years during the 18th Dynasty (approximately 1490–1469 BC) and is the only pharaonic woman known to have reigned in ancient Egypt. As you move through the West Bank sites, you will also see the Valley of the Queens, Deir el-Medina, Medinet Habu and the Colossi of Memnon, taking in a range of temples and tombs that together tell the story of royal life and burial on this side of the Nile. The experience focuses on exploration and interpretation of these historic places, with a knowledgeable guide to explain the architecture, historical context and significance of each site.
