Private Day Tour: Egyptian Museum - Citadel - Islamic & Coptic Cairo
A trusted partner experience, hand-picked and featured on This is Egypt.

Overview
Step back in time with a visit to the Salah El Din Citadel, a medieval Islamic fort that overlooks the city. You will explore the citadel grounds and learn about the well that the ruler Salah El Din had built to supply water to the fortress. As you move around the site, you will also see the Mohamed Ali Mosque rising on the citadel’s hilltop, an imposing feature of the complex and the skyline. After the citadel, the experience continues into Old Cairo, where you will tour areas known for their many churches and a surviving Roman fort. Along the way you will encounter layers of the city’s long history as different periods and communities shaped the neighbourhoods. The outing finishes with a visit to the famous Egyptian Museum, where the museum’s collections provide further context to the monuments and stories you have seen earlier in the day.
