Overview

This trip takes you through Egypt’s most famous sites, from lively Cairo to the Mediterranean charm of Alexandria and on to the ancient wonders of Luxor and Aswan. You will stay in a standard room on a bed-and-breakfast basis at the Cairo Pyramids 5* (or a similar hotel) for five nights. Along the way, sightseeing is centred on the country’s top landmarks and museums. Sightseeing includes the Great Pyramids of Giza and the treasures held in the Egyptian Museum, as well as the bustling stalls of Khan el-Khalili. You will see the early capitals at Memphis and Sakkara and visit the National Museum. In Alexandria, time will be spent at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Roman Theatre and the Montazah Gardens. In Cairo you will also encounter the Citadel of Saladin and the Mohamed Ali Mosque. As you move south, the focus shifts to Luxor’s Karnak Temple and the Valley of the Kings and Queens, with further stops at Edfu and Kom Ombo. In Aswan, highlights include the High Dam and the island temple of Philae. This itinerary brings together Egypt’s archaeological highlights, historic museums and coastal and Nile-side sites, giving you a broad view of the country’s cultural and ancient heritage.
