Luxor - Edfu Temple & Kom Ombo Temple: Full Day Private Tour
A trusted partner experience, hand-picked and featured on This is Egypt.

Overview
A professional tour guide will collect you and drive south past picturesque villages to the Edfu Temple, dedicated to the god Horus. As you move through the nearly intact complex, you will see the pillared hall, two diagonal halls and a sanctuary surrounded by chapels. The temple walls record details of the building’s construction, religious myths and the family history of Horus, so you will have a clear sense of how the site functioned in ancient Egyptian worship. After lunch, the tour continues further south to Kom Ombo to visit its famous double temple, dedicated to Horus the Elder and Sobek. The temple walls contain several remarkable scenes that your guide will explain, including a portrayal of surgical instruments that resemble tools used today and a detailed depiction of an ancient calendar showing hieroglyph figures for the days of the month and the seasons. You will also visit the Crocodile Museum, which displays mummified crocodiles associated with the cult of Sobek. The excursion finishes with a return transfer to your hotel.
