Overview

On the Nile’s West Bank you’ll encounter a landscape of funerary temples and tombs that reflect ancient Egypt’s focus on the afterlife. As you move through the area, you’ll visit the Valley of the Kings, where royal burial chambers are set into the hills. Along the way you’ll also see the Colossi of Memnon, two massive stone statues that mark part of the necropolis. You’ll stop at the temple built for Queen Hatshepsut, a striking funerary complex dedicated to one of Egypt’s most famous rulers. The experience will let you take in the monuments and their setting on the west bank of the Nile, giving a sense of how these tombs and temples relate to one another across the ancient ceremonial landscape.
