Half Day Tour Visiting The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization
A trusted partner experience, hand-picked and featured on This is Egypt.

Overview
You will be collected from your hotel in Cairo or Giza by a tour guide who will take you to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. The museum is considered the first in the world to present a comprehensive view of Egyptian civilisation from prehistory through to modern times. As you move through the galleries, the displays aim to show how daily life, craft and belief evolved over millennia. In the main Exhibition Hall you will see the four crafts that shaped Egyptian life: pottery, wood, textile and ornaments. You can also view a number of remarkable objects, including what is known as the oldest prosthetic toe in the world and the skeleton of a man dated to about 30,000 years ago. The museum houses the Kaaba cover (kiswaa al-Kaaba) that was the last one made in Egypt during the time of President Nasser, together with the Mahmal that used to carry the cover from Egypt to Saudi Arabia in the annual parade. Along the way, the exhibits offer a broad picture of Egyptian civilisation through many ages.
