Overview

You’ll begin with special permission to visit the Grand Egyptian Museum (the New Egyptian Museum) and take a private tour of parts usually closed to general visitors. Along the way you’ll enter the conservation laboratories and the museum’s Great Hall. Inside, you’ll see many artifacts that have been moved from the ancient Egyptian Museum, including the King Tutankhamun Gallery and the King Khufu Solar Boat Museum, as well as other important treasures. After the museum visit, you’ll go to the Giza Plateau to view the Pyramids of Giza — including Cheops and Mykrinos — and the Great Sphinx. You’ll have time for photos and to explore the nearby Valley Temple of King Khafre. The day finishes with a stop at the historic Khan Al-Khalili bazaar, where you can experience the atmosphere of one of Cairo’s best-known markets.
