Overview
Your Visitors Egypt tour guide will be waiting for you, holding a Visitors Egypt sign so you do not need to look for them — they will be waiting and will find you. The tour begins at the Egyptian Museum, where more than 250,000 pieces display a rare collection of Egyptian art spanning over 5,000 years. As you move through the galleries, you will see the Tutankhamen room, which contains the treasure, jewellery and gold that were enclosed in his tomb over 3,500 years before it was discovered in 1920 when his tomb was excavated. You will then visit the Citadel of Salah El Din, built on the Moqattam hills in 1183 AD to defend Cairo from the armies of the Crusaders. Along the way you will also see the Mohamed Ali Alabaster Mosque, designed by the architect Yousif Boushnaq, a Turkish man who came from Istanbul to build the mosque for Mohamed Ali, the ruler of Egypt from 1805 to 1849 who ruled for over 45 years. After these visits, you will be taken back to your hotel.
