Overview

A day trip from Luxor to the temples at Abydos and Dendera will take you into the heart of ancient Egyptian religion and art. You’ll travel north of Luxor to Abydos Temple, built by Seti I and dedicated to Osiris. As you move through the site, you will see detailed stone carvings and the famous Abydos King List, both of which shed light on royal lineage and religious belief. You will then continue to Dendera Temple, which is dedicated to Hathor, the goddess of love and music. There you can explore richly decorated interiors and colourful ceilings, and notice the zodiac signs that decorate parts of the monument. Along the way, the experience will combine history, mythology and impressive ancient architecture, giving you a clear sense of these temples’ spiritual and artistic importance.
