Overview

A Tamer Safari Tours guide will pick you up from your hotel for an excursion to the Giza plateau, where you’ll see the Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus. As you move around the site, you’ll visit the Great Sphinx — which dates back to the time of Chephren — and the nearby Valley Temple, learning about their place in ancient Egyptian funerary practices. You’ll also visit the Step Pyramid of Zoser, the world’s oldest major stone structure, built in the 3rd Dynasty for King Zoser. After a lunch at a local restaurant, the tour continues to Memphis, founded by King Menes and long regarded as Egypt’s first capital and a centre of rule and culture for over 3,000 years; here you’ll see the statue of Ramses II and the alabaster Sphinx of Memphis. The day ends at the Dahshur necropolis, about 40 kilometres south of Cairo, where pyramids dating from 2613–2589 BC stand — the Bent Pyramid being the most famous in the area.
