Overview
You will visit Bahariya Oasis in Egypt’s Western Desert and then travel out into the surrounding sands to explore the regions known as the Black Desert and the White Desert. Along the way you will move from the oasis landscape into two very different desert environments, giving you a direct look at these distinctive areas. In the White Desert you will see huge, rare chalk formations that look almost like giant, plastic sculptures carved by wind and time. As you walk among them, some rocks will appear to take familiar shapes — a bird, an animal, a Sphinx-like figure, a human form and a tree. A few formations create natural canopies under which passers-by lie.
