This experience takes you into the heart of ancient Thebes to explore the mystery of Tutankhamen. The young king, who is believed to have been around 10 when he took the throne and who died at about 19, is the focus as you visit his tomb in the Valley of the Kings (Necropolis of Thebes). Here you will have the chance to stand face to face with his royal mummy, while your Egyptologist tour guide helps put the find into historical context and unfolds the story behind this famous pharaoh. As you move through the area, you will also visit several other important sites. Along the way are the tombs of Ramses, Horemheb and Merenptah, and nearby landmarks such as the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut (Deir el Bahari) and the Colossi of Memnon. The day also includes visits to Luxor Museum and the Karnak and Luxor Temples, where you will encounter monumental architecture and artefacts that illustrate ancient Egyptian beliefs and royal life.
